KITT as emblematic of the 1980s, a period drenched in nostalgia for both people who grew up during that time and those who have simply consumed a large amount of content from that era. Licensing KITT makes perfect sense for Rocket League, which is now a free-t0-play game (owned by Fortnite developer Epic Games) dependent on cross-promoting popular IP, as it recently did with F9's rocket car. Though not as long or referential as the trailer for the original Rocket League Knight Rider Car Pack, this trailer still pays sufficient homage to the show's iconic intro. Developer Psyonix advertised the content drop with a short trailer on the game's Twitter page. A Knight Industries Player Banner and a Knight Rider Player Banner are also included as part of the bundle. Notably, the red boost moves side to side across the rear of the car. Coming in at 800 credits, the bundle features the main KITT Body, Wheels, Boost, Gullwing Topper, and recognizable Engine Audio. The latest thematic content available as part of Rocket League's Summer Road Trip is the Knight Rider Bundle, running from July 8 to July 14 according to the official Rocket Leagueblog. This limited run was a collection of dapper add-ons players could use to fancy up their car, but it was only available on July 7. Afterward, players were able to celebrate Rocket League's sixth anniversary with the Summer Formal Bundle. Summer Road Trip began on July 1 with the Red, White, & Boom Bundle, featuring the Ford F-150 RLE and the Heatseeker LTM running through July 5. The event features the return of many classic cars and limited-time modes (LTMs). KITT's return comes as part of Rocket League's Summer Road Trip event, a month-long rollout of assorted content bundles spanning the entire month of July. Car enthusiasts and fans of the show will recognize the vehicle as a modified black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with blazing red lights.
